You would think that the designers of Doors shirts would be spoilt rotten with quality images of one of the most iconic front men in popular music. However as usual it seems that making easy money has taken precedent over producing attractive t-shirts. Ever vigilant, we have managed to get hold of some of the best… Genuine ‘vintage t-shirts’ (t-shirts that are decades old) can go for big money online so it makes sense to meet demand by producing a licensed reproduction. This Waiting for the Sun Doors T-shirt make a really good job of reproducing the style and print quality of a late 1960s tee. The unbleached fabric and the limited print colour choice works very effectively: The back print details the American dates of the 1968 tour supporting the Waiting For The Sun LP so you can even brag that you (or your dad) was there The Doors’ final album (with Jim Morrison) had a truly iconic cover. Simple with its’ red background and yellow picture, it represented a band associated with experimental music in the guise of a world weary blues band, sepia tinged and authentic. “Finally”, Jim gargled “I’m making a real blues record”. Why then is it so bloody hard to get hold of a licensed version of this t-shirt? Even dodgy knock offs are increasingly hard to get hold of, although you can’t wonder why they are produced when licensed versions simply aren’t made. However we have a small supply of these US only licensed LA Woman T-shirt and they capture the colours of the original LP very well: If you want one of these – buy it now. Once these have gone they have gone!
