The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators t-shirt

The 13th Floor Elevators have influenced an appropriately eclectic array of bands over the years from Z.Z. Top to , most famously, Primal Scream on their classic Screamadelica album. Based in Texas, the 13th Floor Elevators choose an unlikely place to pioneer their drug induced psychedelic sound, often (quite literally) running from the police, aware that the next arrest would result in a hefty prison sentence. The air of mystic surrounding the band (together with the blatant endorsement of drug consumption to achieve new levels of consciousness) have ensured a bubbling and growing fascination with one of the great lost bands of the 1960′s counterculture.
